The only way an employer can insure safe and honest behavior is when the employees police themselves. We help motivate your employees.
We custom design our safety incentive program for each client, then return every month to run a combination safety / safety awards meeting for the employees. The meetings are hard to categorize, but they combine a discussion of injuries or near-misses, safety suggestions, and a very entertaining awards presentation, built on recognition, appreciation, and fun.
Fun? If a company can improve morale while stressing safety, then injuries and fraudulent claims go down.
If a company can demonstrate that they appreciate their employees with recognition, pictures, applause and laughter, it becomes a better, healthier - and safer- company. That is what we accomplish.
Joe Stevens - President
Joseph P. Stevens is the President of Bridge Consultants, Inc, a consulting group that specializes in the field of workers compensation, providing specific programs and services to businesses and organizations.
Mr. Stevens comes by his passion to reduce the cost of workers comp naturally, having been the COO of a medical equipment company that saw it Ex-Mod climb well over 150. By implementing a safety incentive program that focused employee efforts directly on safe behavior, while encouraging teamwork and responsibility, his company experienced a positive morale change. The result was a dramatic reduction in claims, followed by a significant drop in Ex-Mod. In 1994, Bridge Consultants was born as an independent consulting group to advise other employers on ways to reduce their costs.
Today, Bridge Consultants provides the most dynamic and effective safety incentive program in California. Their record of success in reducing injuries and claims is unmatched.
In recognition of his expertise, Mr. Stevens was appointed to the Special Task Force for Workers’ Comp Reform by Governor Schwarzenegger, and served on a similar Task Force for Insurance Commissioner Garamendi. Because of his unique position, representing employers across a broad spectrum of businesses, his input has been sought by legislators from both parties.
Mr. Stevens is an accomplished speaker, often providing employer workshops, and addressing professional organizations nationally. He is an active participant for the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Business Legislation Group, and several Human Resource organizations. In addition, Mr. Stevens consults and speaks for TEC,
Paul T.
Patiño - Vice President / Director of Safety
Mr. Patiño began his background as a facilitative trainer in 1989 while serving in the United States Army as a Communications Specialist and Airborne Paratrooper with the elite 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) in the state of Washington. Paul respectfully served during both the Panama “Just Cause” and Desert Storm campaigns. While serving in Korea, Paul earned a foreign award and an honorary Korean SF Parachutist badge after a major airborne campaign near the De-militarized zone between North and South Korea.
Paul joined Bridge Consultants after spending eight years as the Safety Manager of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps; the largest non-profit organization of its type in the nation. As Safety Manager, Paul chaired monthly Safety Committee meetings, developed the organization’s IIPP, Forklift Safety Operations, New Hire Safety Orientations, General Safety Practices, Certified CPR and First-Aid instruction, as well as their Defensive Drivers training.
Paul combines his training and leadership expertise, with a sense of humor that makes every monthly safety awards meeting a positive event. After all, how many former green beret paratroopers are also amateur comedians? Paul relates particularly well to Spanish speaking workforces, as he is fluent in both Spanish and English, and typically provides his presentations and trainings in both languages.
